CDS 2 2022 Selection Process

The Combined Defence Service examination conducted by the UPSC is held in two phases including a written test and an interview round. The CDS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and includes all three forces. A candidate must qualify for the wrtoin order to be selected for the SSB Interview. Once the candidate clears all the stages, he/she is sent for training.

The three stages of the CDS Exam are

Written Test: The candidates have to first appear for the CDS Written Exam which is MCQ based paper. The candidates have to prepare themselves for the subjects including English, General Knowledge, and Maths. The duration of the exam is 2 hours and candidates must clear the minimum cut-off to qualify for the next stage.

SSB Interview: The Service Selection Board Interview is the second phase of the CDS Exam and is a 5-day long process. A candidate is given several tasks by SSB to complete in those five days. The tasks in the interview phase include Picture Perfection, Officer Intelligence Rating, GTO, and Description Test. The main interview is scheduled for the last day.

Medical Examination: A candidates will be called for Medical Tests once he/she clears both stages of the CDS Exam. The candidates will be based on vision, hearing ability, etc.
