Berhampur University Recruitment 2026 - Vacancy Details

A total of 95 vacancies have been announced for teaching faculty positions across three levels (Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor) in various PG Departments and Lingaraj Law College of Berhampur University. The recruitment includes regular faculty positions and backlog vacancies as per UGC eligibility criteria. Reservation is applicable as per Government of Odisha norms.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of online application submission (10-06-2026, Midnight). The educational qualification must be from a recognized University. Qualifications and selections are as per UGC Regulations Notification No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18th July 2018. Candidates above 60 years are not eligible.

Essential Qualification for Professor (Pay Level-14)

Option A:

• An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulation No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18th July 2018
• A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate

Option B:

• An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not included in A above) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years' experience

Essential Qualification for Associate Professor (Pay Level-13A)

• A good academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines
• A Master's Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from foreign University
• For SC/ST/Non-Creamy layer OBC/Differently abled candidates, the requirement at master level is 50%. Relaxation of 5% in marks is also applicable to Ph.D. degree holder who completed master degree prior to 19 September, 1991
• A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry with minimum of seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 75

Essential Qualification for Assistant Professor (Pay Level-10)

Option A:

• A Master's Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from foreign University
• For SC/ST/Non-Creamy layer OBC/Differently abled candidates, the requirement at master level is 50%
• Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET
• Candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2009 or 2016 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET

Option B:

• The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking

Selection Process

The selection process consists of Screening/Scrutiny of applications followed by Interview. The Screening/Scrutiny and subsequent selection will be as per the UGC Notification 18th July 2018 and supported by the Act and Statute of the University.

1. Application Screening/Scrutiny: Applications received by due date will be screened/scrutinized as per UGC norms
2. Shortlisting: For single post: Maximum 15 candidates will be called for interview; for multiple posts: candidates in ratio 1:10
3. Display of List: List of eligible and ineligible candidates will be displayed on the website
4. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview with mandatory PPT presentation (9 slides only)
