CBSE conducts the CTET exam to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers for Classes I to VIII in central government schools (like KVS, NVS, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of the Union Territories of India.

The CTET September 2026 exam offers two papers:
- Paper I: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V (Primary Stage).
- Paper II: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage).
- Both Papers: Candidates can apply for both papers if they wish to teach across all classes (I to VIII).
The exam will be conducted in 27 languages across 132 cities (allotted randomly by CBSE).
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Paper I (Classes I to V): Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/B.El.Ed) or equivalent.
Paper II (Classes VI to VIII): Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed or equivalent.
Age Limit
There is no age limit for appearing in CTET as per CBSE rules.

Selection Process
