Exam Pattern
The JEE Main 2026 exam comprises three papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech (90 questions: 30 each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics), Paper 2A for B.Arch (Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing), and Paper 2B for B.Planning (Mathematics, Aptitude, Planning). Physics Syllabus

Chemistry Syllabus
Chemistry is divided into three sections:
- Physical Chemistry: Some Basic Concepts in Chemistry, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Solutions, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions and Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics
- Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, p-Block Elements, d- and f-Block Elements, Coordination Compounds

Mathematics Syllabus
Mathematics includes 14 major units:
- Algebra: Sets, Relations and Functions, Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations, Matrices and Determinants, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem and Its Simple Applications, Sequence and Series
- Calculus: Limit, Continuity and Differentiability, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations

- Aptitude Test: Awareness of persons, places, buildings, materials; objects and textures related to architecture; three-dimensional perception; visualization; analytical reasoning
- Drawing Test: Sketching of scenes and activities from memory; 3D perception of objects; drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes
Selection Process
The selection process for JEE Main 2026 involves two sessions (January and April). Candidates can appear in one or both sessions; the best score is considered for ranking. Based on JEE Main scores, candidates qualify for JEE Advanced (for IITs) or direct admission to NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutions. Paper 2A candidates must also clear the Drawing test to be considered for B.Arch admissions.
