Post Details

The recruitment is for the post of Category-II Stipendiary Trainee/Technician (ST/TN) under Group C. There are 255 vacancies (208 current + 47 backlog) distributed across 8 trades: Plant Operator, Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, and Welder. Selected candidates will undergo 2 years of training with a stipend, followed by absorption as Technician/B in Pay Level 3.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions as on 29th June 2026 (closing date of application). All qualifications must be from a recognized board/institution. English must have been studied at least at SSC (10th) level.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages conducted on the same day: Online Examination (Preliminary Test and Advanced Test) followed by Document Verification. Both tests are Computer Based Tests (CBT) with trilingual question papers (Tamil, Hindi, English).

The age limit is 18 to 24 years as on 29th June 2026, meaning candidates must be born between 29-06-2002 and 29-06-2008. Stage 1 (Preliminary Test) is a 60-minute screening exam with 50 MCQs for 150 marks covering Mathematics (20 questions), Science (20 questions), and General Awareness (10 questions), with minimum qualifying marks of 40% for UR and 30% for reserved categories. Stage 2 (Advanced Test) is a 120-minute merit exam with 50 MCQs for 150 marks based on HSC level for Plant Operator or ITI trade syllabus for other trades, with minimum qualifying marks of 30% for UR and 20% for reserved categories. Both tests have 3 marks per correct answer and negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer. Stage 3 involves Document Verification for shortlisted candidates (not exceeding 3 times the vacancies per trade). The final merit list is prepared based solely on Stage-2 Advanced Test scores.
