Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
Candidates applying for Medical Officer (MBBS) positions must hold an MBBS degree from a statutory university or an equivalent qualification recognized under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Specialist candidates need postgraduate degrees or diplomas in specified subjects from institutions recognized by relevant authorities. All applicants must have completed their compulsory rotating internship by the application deadline and possess valid registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council or National Medical Commission.
Additional Requirements
Medical graduates educated abroad must have cleared the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations. A valid Maharashtra domicile certificate is mandatory for all candidates, as reservation benefits are exclusively available to permanent residents of the state. Currently serving regular Medical Officers of Maharashtra Medical and Health Service Group-A (S-20) are not eligible to apply for these positions.
Age Limit
The minimum age requirement for all candidates is 18 years. The maximum age limit varies according to category: 38 years for Unreserved and OBC (NCL) candidates, 43 years for Reserved Category (SC/ST/OBC/SEBC/EWS) applicants, and up to 45 years for Sports Persons in the Unreserved category. Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates can apply up to 43 years regardless of category, while orphan candidates also have a maximum age limit of 43 years. Candidates qualifying under multiple relaxation categories are entitled to only one maximum relaxation benefit.
Application Fee
The application fee structure is designed to be accessible while maintaining the seriousness of applications. Unreserved (General) category candidates must pay Rs. 1000, while Reserved Category, EWS, Orphan, and PwD candidates are required to pay Rs. 700. All fees are non-refundable and must be paid exclusively through online payment modes available on the official website. Selection Process
The selection methodology employs a merit-based scoring system without conventional written examinations. For MBBS candidates, the total score of 100 marks comprises three components: up to 50 marks based on the average percentage secured in all MBBS years, 20 marks for postgraduate qualifications (if applicable), and up to 30 marks for relevant government service experience. Specialist candidates will be evaluated through separate subject-wise merit lists prioritizing super specialists, followed by MD/MS/DNB holders, diploma holders, and FCPS qualified candidates.
Experience Weightage
Government service experience receives specific scoring: every 11 months of service in Tribal, Naxal-affected, or Hilly areas earns 10 marks, while similar duration in Non-tribal, Non-naxal, or Non-hilly areas earns 5 marks. Foreign-educated candidates will be screened based on their NBE examination marks. Successful candidates must execute a bond committing to serve for a minimum of five years or pay prescribed penalties as determined by government regulations.
