Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the UGC eligibility criteria as per the UGC Notification dated 18th July 2018 and subsequent amendments. Eligibility is determined as on the closing date of online application (10th June 2026). Candidates above 60 years of age are not eligible. The period spent on M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. will not be considered as research experience.

Eligibility A (i)An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulation No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18th July 2018.
Eligibility A (ii)A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.
Eligibility BAn outstanding professional with a Ph.D. in the relevant/allied/applied disciplines from any academic institution (not included in A above)/industry, who has made significant contribution to knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence, provided he/she has ten years’ experience.

Eligibility A (ii)Besides the above, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test (SLET/SET) accredited by UGC, OR hold a Ph.D. Degree awarded in accordance with UGC (M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments (with specified conditions). NET/SLET/SET shall be the minimum criteria for direct recruitment as per UGC Notification New Delhi, 30th June 2023.
Eligibility BThe Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or ARWU of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Age Limit

Candidates above 60 years of age are not eligible to apply for any post. There is no specific lower age limit mentioned; however, candidates must meet the qualification and experience requirements.

Selection Process

The selection will be based on screening/scrutiny of applications followed by an interview, as per UGC Notification 18th July 2018. For a single post, a maximum of 15 candidates will be called for interview; for multiple posts, candidates are called in a 1:10 ratio based on scrutiny scores. Candidates must prepare a PPT covering their biodata, subject expertise, teaching philosophy, research, and vision. The evaluation includes cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.

Assistant Professor applicants must have a Master’s degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD) in the relevant subject and must have cleared UGC/CSIR NET or SET/SLET, or possess a Ph.D. in accordance with UGC Ph.D. Regulations which can exempt NET as per the latest UGC guidelines.
