Eligibility Criteria
Educational and Experience Requirements
Each Member post has specific qualification and experience criteria as mandated by the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017. Candidates must ensure they meet the exact requirements for the category they are applying to.
- Eminent Psychiatrist from the State not in Govt. Service: Must hold a Post-Graduate Degree or Diploma in Psychiatry from a UGC-recognized university, National Board of Examinations (NBE), or Medical Council of India, with at least 15 years of field experience.
- Mental Health Professional: Requires a Post-Graduate degree in Ayurveda (Mano Vigyan Avum Manas Roga), Homeopathy (Psychiatry), Unani (Moalijat - Nafas Roga), or Siddha (Sirappu Maruthuvam), along with 15 years of relevant experience.
- Psychiatric Social Worker: Must possess a Post-Graduate degree in Social Work and an M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work from a UGC-recognized institution, including supervised clinical training, with 15 years of experience.
- Clinical Psychologist: Should have a recognized qualification in Clinical Psychology from an RCI-approved institution, or a Post-Graduate Degree in Psychology/Clinical Psychology/Applied Psychology with an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology or Medical and Social Psychology, plus 15 years of experience.
- Mental Health Nurse: Requires a Diploma or Degree in General Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing recognized by the Nursing Council of India and registration with the State Nursing Council, with 15 years of experience.
- Persons representing persons who have or have had mental illness: No specific educational qualification is prescribed.
- Persons representing care-givers of persons with mental illness or organizations representing care-givers: Applicants should be individuals residing with and responsible for caring for a person with mental illness, including relatives or representatives of caregiver organizations.
- Persons representing non-governmental organizations which provide services to persons with mental illness: Must be representatives of registered NGOs with at least 10 years of experience in the mental health field.
