But only 50 employees working in SEZs are allowed to work from home for a maximum period of one year. Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that there have been some requests to the government from many sectors to increase the scope of working from home. India has 8 Special Economic Zones including Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.
The Union Minister said that 100% of the employees of all sectors working in these economic zones can be provided with the facility of working from home. In other words, it is in the interest of the country to allow employees to work from home, he said in the Board of Trade meeting held yesterday.
